5 lessons to learn during COVID-19 Pandemic are cooking, family time, saving money, minimalism and house hold chores. Pandemic taught us the importance of minimalism. Minimalism is a word that carries a lot of weight these days. Ironically, considering it refers to a lifestyle that is about living with less.
Before we jump to lessons to learn during COVID-19 Pandemic we understand the change in the lifestyle. And the role of minimalism in our lives during the COVID-19 Pandemic?
Have you ever dreamed that you would see millions of people in a world going through a pandemic? I bet you would have never thought of that. But now we are facing such situations where we are living by using limited resources. We are not going out, partying and spending time with family. You must have thought that now we are living life even with limited resources.
This means that situational minimalism has come into our lives. we are all living with the minimum of our needs. We have learned to live for less. This is a very important lesson especially for our children who, unlike our times, have always lived in abundance.
We can use the changes of this time to teach some lessons to children which can be helpful throughout their life.
What are the 5 lessons children can learn during COVID-19 Pandemic?
It’s a good idea to teach kids something with real-life examples. If they get convinced by this new concept, then they can adopt this way of living to make life simpler and adjust to all situations of life.
1. Cooking at home
In such difficult times of the pandemic, everyone is advised to avoid external contact as much as possible. Therefore, when everyone was living in the house, it was necessary to eat home-cooked food. Even if there was availability to order food from restaurants allowed to supply food, many people avoided buying it from outside. For the simple reason of avoiding any outside contact.
This practice helped as a boon in disguise that those who used to eat more junk food outside, have started eating fresh home-cooked food. They are also enjoying the fresh taste and healthy food.
During the lockdown, if someone was living away from home due to his job or any other reason, he had to learn to cook. Domestic helpers were also not allowed to move around during the lockdown. It was not possible to depend on outside food alone for thirty days, so the only option left was to cook the traditional food themselves. So, people started learning cooking from google and youtube.
Working moms who stay at home during the pandemic have started making delicious recipes for kids at home. Kids love delicious food, and if it can be made at home, it is best for them.
Mothers, as well as children, have developed a taste for various dishes prepared at home.
For many, it has been a fun time to enjoy cooking with their kids and then eating altogether. They have understood the importance of home-cooked food. And wise mothers were able to inculcate this habit of healthy eating during this lockdown period.
Additionally, when we are cooking, we usually buy the products which are best in their nutritive value and freshness.
2. Habit of eating Healthy food-
After receiving the products, we clean them as best as possible. Then we cook it using the best ingredients and applying a healthy cooking method. We use healthy cooking-friendly pots and pans.
In short, we try our best to make the food good in taste as well as nutritious.
This means that the food that comes to the dinner table is the result of so much hard work. There are many different and important steps involved in the process of bringing grains, fruits and vegetables grown on the farm to being cooked and brought to the dining table.
It is obvious that only a member of the family can make so much effort to cook the food for everyone. No one else who has no vested interest in a person can put so much effort into cooking food that is nutritious and hygienic.
The food which comes from outside cannot be so healthy as compared to the home-cooked one. Our diet has a direct role in making us healthy and thus leading to a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, it is advised to eat healthy homemade food as often as possible.

3. Understanding the value of family by spending time together during the COVD-19 Pandemic.
Family is everything and there are so many things that we can add to this list for our kids.
It is okay to be related to many people other than family but it is necessary to develop strong ties with family. There are moments of happiness and sadness in life. To handle both, we need people with whom we share a strong bond and they are always with us. So, we should pay more attention to our family members than everyone else.
In today’s hectic life, people are devoting less time to home. Due to this, we spend less time with the family members. As a result, they fail to understand one another many times. Wherever we live in the world, we need our family to support us. Living with the family has a significant role in leading a well-balanced life.
No matter how busy we are, it’s important to spend one or two days a week with family to understand them. Sharing happiness and sorrow increases affection and affinity among themselves.
In this pandemic when we have to be together most of the time, we should focus on understanding each other and develop a strong bond between us.

Doing household chores is also an important aspect for everyone. By doing household chores, children become independent. If they have to live alone in another city for studies, then with this skill they can adjust anywhere comfortably. At home, they can help their parents with household chores.
Children are not dependent on anyone for their domestic needs like cooking, cleaning, washing clothes and utensils. They should be taught these tasks by using tools and machines that make the work easy to do.
5. Learning to save unnecessary expenditure on expensive clothes, outside food, partying.
We must avoid expensive and too many clothes, unnecessary items, and collecting luxury items which do not have any justification in our life. We should invest such money in good investments options so that it can be useful in future in any calamity. During Pandemic we have learnt that collecting more and expending more should be avoided.
It is not we must never buy expensive things. Sometimes on some occasion or when there is a need, we can make some necessary expenses.
In the same way, we must learn to remove extra stuff from home from time to time.
Cleanliness is a good habit and an important aspect for all human beings. It should be adopted by all individuals. By staying clean, many diseases stay away and the environment remains clean, due to which we feel mental peace.
Usually, we have a habit of collecting such items in our homes that are no longer needed. Because of the extra stuff house looks cluttered and dirty.
Knowing the importance of minimalism, we learn what’s extra in a home. And then we also learn how and when to remove the extra stuff from the house.
