Synopsis

How can you cooperate with the government in dealing with Coronavirus?

And, How should people cooperate with the government in such crucial circumstances as coronavirus?

These two essential and sometimes ignored questions need to be answered.

Since last year, we are facing the biggest challenge of this decade. This is Covid19 or as we commonly call coronavirus. At this time, India is facing the most terrible form of corona in the whole world.

The tragedy of the people at this time is beyond description, no one would have imagined that the condition would be so bad.

But we all have to face it together. And we not only have to face it but also overcome it.

Whatever action the government is taking on its behalf, as a citizen, we should also do our duty and support the government.

So what exactly is the Coronavirus?

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that range from the common cold to MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) coronavirus and SARs ( Severe acute respiratory syndrome) coronavirus.

These viruses are circulating in animals ( more specifically bats) and some of these have the capability of transmitting between animals and humans. The spread of this virus among humans started in Wuhan, China in 2019.

The COVID-19 virus affects different people in different ways. Some Covid19 infected people might experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover easily.

On the other hand, older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease, are more likely to develop a serious illness that might even result in death.

Some of its main symptoms are:

1.Fever
2.Tiredness
3.Dry cough.

Other symptoms of Corona Virus include:

4. Shortness of breath
5. Aches and pains
6. Sore throat

and very few people will report diarrhoea, nausea or a runny nose

The worst part about this virus is that it spreads very fast and easily from person to person.

This can happen through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person infected with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These small droplets land on objects or surfaces that other people might touch or come in contact with and then touching their nose, eyes or mouth. It can also spread if someone breathes in these droplets.

Is there a treatment for people infected with Coronavirus COVID-19?

Fortunately, we now have the COVID-19 vaccines which produce protection against the disease. Vaccines result in developing an immune response to the SARS-Cov-2 virus.

Developing immunity through vaccination means there is a reduced risk of developing the illness and its consequences. This immunity helps you fight the virus if exposed. Therefore, all above age 18 should get vaccinated as early as possible.

So how to protect yourself from Coronavirus?

Following are some of the ways to prevent this infection and to slow down its transmission :

1. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or clean them with an alcohol-based sanitiser.

2.Avoid touching your face.

3. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

4. Stay home if you feel unwell.

5. Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.

6. Practice social distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.

7. Maintain at least a 2-meter distance between you and other people

These are some of the ways of prevention for the long term but there is something more we need to do right now to decrease the global spread of this pandemic. It is to cooperate and support your government.

How can you cooperate with the government in dealing with Coronavirus?

First and foremost is to follow the rules imposed by the government.

Don’t break the lockdown. Step out of the house only when needed.

Wear masks to cover your mouth and nose when you step out of the house.

These masks can be any N95Masks, three layered fabric masks, surgical masks.

Wash your hands for 20 seconds every now and then especially before eating or touching your face.

Practice social distancing.

Don’t travel unnecessarily.

Get Vaccinated as early as possible.

Encourage others to follow government rules.

Educate your house help and other staff about the seriousness of this disease and spread awareness.

Pay the salaries of your helping staff on time even if they are not working for you right now.

You are the privileged one and so you should use this privilege to make sure the people who work for you don’t sleep empty stomach.

Download resources such as the Aarogya Setu App to help the government to track the movement of COVID19 infected people and potential threats.

It would also help you to stay aware of the coronavirus patients around you.

Don’t panic buy and hoard essential items. This might create a shortage of supplies.

Don’t spread any fake news over social media especially WhatsApp.

Don’t believe in any news or updates on Corona Virus till it is published by official sites.

Respect police, doctors and other healthcare workers who are working day and night to ensure your safety.

The world is going through the biggest crisis of this decade and the only way right now to protect ourselves is to cooperate with our governments.

Just by doing these small things, we would be able to make a larger impact in this fight against Corona Virus.

WHO Press Conference says that

Future of this pandemic will depend on how India handles it. India eliminated Smallpox & Polio and gave a gift to the world.

India has tremendous capacities. It should lead the way and show the world again.

India has always been seen as an example and let us make sure it continues to be seen this way.
